Join us on November 23 (Saturday) and 24 (Sunday), 2024, for the ‘Uzumasa Joraku Festival ~LUMINE~’ at TOEI Kyoto Studio Park. This year, we’re celebrating the 18th edition of the Uzumasa Joraku Festival, a popular cross-media event in the Uzumasa area that draws a huge crowd every year.

This year, the festival will come alive with exciting lights and activities themed around ‘LUMINE’!

COS-PATIO in Uzumasa Joraku Festival 2024

Once a year, cosplayers from across Japan make their pilgrimage to the promised land!

TOEI Kyoto Studio Park is renowned for its expansive film studio that has recreated the entire Edo castle town, serving as the backdrop for numerous movies and period dramas. For two special days, you’ll have the chance to cosplay in this incredibly authentic setting!

On November 23 (Saturday), the hours will be extended, allowing visitors to enjoy cosplay photography with lighting designed by professional film production staff!

What is “COS-PATIO in Uzumasa Joraku Festival”?
This is one of Japan's largest cosplay events focused on traditional costumes and historical creations, taking place alongside the comprehensive historical event, the 'Uzumasa Joraku Festival.'

Anyone participating in cosplay or bringing a camera will need a separate ticket for the 'COS-PATIO at the Uzumasa Joraku Festival.'

Special Partners「Otori-Danshi」

‘Otori-Danshi,’ a story about the road gods known as ‘Torigami’set in Kyoto, will be showcased at the Uzumasa Joraku Festival. Character panels and other displays will be set up in the open area of TOEI Kyoto Studio Park!

What is “Otori-Danshi”?
In Kyoto, streets are commonly referred to as 'Toori,' and the tradition of explaining places through these streets runs deep. This work highlights this culture by portraying the street gods, known as 'Torigami,' who watch over the safety of the streets and details their activities.
New Torigami are popping up all over Kyoto City.
Plus, we’re actively collaborating with Kyoto’s traditional crafts and teaming up with local facilities and businesses to expand our reach in various ways. In 2024, we kicked off a new content initiative with the launch of 'Otori-Danshi NFT'.

「Ayakashi Rumble!」booth

A booth for the hachamecha Japanese fantasy RPG ‘Ayakashi Rumble!’ will feature character panels of Shikigami and showcase various exhibits and merchandise for sale in the open area of TOEI Kyoto Studio Park.

What is “Ayakashi Rumble!”?
A Japanese-style fantasy that blends traditional aesthetics with mysticism. The story follows a rookie Onmyoji, the protector of the human world, as he embarks on his first mission. When he encounters Nagi, a mysterious girl trapped in a crystal, fate draws him into an epic battle!

The annual Touhou Project booth is returning to the Uzumasa Joraku Festival this year! This collaboration event will showcase the charms of the Touhou Project, featuring original merchandise for sale and on display. What is “Touhou Project”?
A captivating universe centered around 'bullet-hell shooting games,' created by the fan club 'Team Shanghai Alice.' Set in the fictional realm of 'Gensoukyo,' this rich and enchanting world, brought to life by its unique characters, has won over countless fans.

"Uzumasa Joraku Festival Historica Seminar: A talk show with Yuki Uchida, Production Manager of NHK Taiga Drama 'Hikaru Kimi e.'

Ms. Yuki Uchida, the production supervisor of the highly acclaimed historical drama 'Hikaru Kimi e,' which tells the story of Murasaki Shikibu, the author of 'The Tale of Genji'—considered the world’s oldest novel written by a woman—will be attending the event.
Mr. Norihiro Yamaguchi, the former president of TOEI Kyoto Studio Park and currently an advisor to Toei Kyoto Studio as well as a professor at Ritsumeikan University’s College of Film and New Media, will join us to discuss how to appreciate historical dramas themed around the 'Heian Period in Reiwa.'
Ms. Uchida, the Production Manager, will discuss how she depicted the Heian period in 'Hikaru Kimi e' and share her thoughts and messages for the main characters she aimed to portray in this work.
Professor Yamaguchi will discuss how the depiction of Toei's period dramas set in the Heian period has evolved, highlighting the significance of 'Hikaru Kimi e' within this context.

Art staff from Toei Kyoto Film Studios will be decorating TOEI Kyoto Studio Park for the Uzumasa Joraku Festival. The new nighttime sets, featuring port towns, food stalls, jailhouses, and other historical scenes, will serve as perfect photo spots for everyone—not just cosplayers!

Uzumasa Joraku Festival mascot character「Karasutengu Ujyu」

Although she is a raven-tengu girl, she was raised as a boy and received one of the highest educations in the tengu clan, known as 'Staring at the Truth.' She has a reputation for being a 'selfish tengu with an egotistical attitude.

Character: She’s self-conscious because she’s a talented karasu tengu, but at heart, she’s a kind girl. Eager to learn and naturally curious, she turns bright red when she gets embarrassed.
